Festiwal Anim'est / Anim'est Festival - Balkanimation / intro: Mihai Mitrica
Anim’est International Animation Film Festival is the only international animation film festival in Romania. Its main host is the city of Bucharest and the festival has follow-ups and events in other cities of Romania and in Chisinau (Moldova). The festival is a Cartoon partner festival and, starting 2017, it is also an OSCAR® qualifying film festival. Besides the regular competition programmes, master-classes, workshops and retrospectives, Anim’est puts together special thematic nights for mature audiences (such as the long awaited Creepy Animation Night), as well as imaginative and challenging selections for children (Minimest section), in a 10-day marathon. Born out of a desire to revive Romanian animation, the festival has also developed an educational platform, the Animation Worksheep, aiming to discover, train and promote animators from the region, to build an active community of animators and furthermore, a functional macro-system, a local animation industry.
Anim’est is both audience and professional oriented edition, encouraging dialogue and further cooperation in the field of animated filmmaking.
The 12th edition will take place in Bucharest, from September 28 to October 8, 2017.
