Wyprawiają na jej cześć spóźnioną stypę, na którą zapraszają do zrujnowanego dziś mieszkania babci sąsiadów zmarłej. In a long overdue tribute to the deceased Marija, three granddaughters host an unconventional and surreal memorial for their beloved grandmother. Setting the scene in Marija's small apartment in Croatia, the sister's don elaborate party dresses and welcome family, friends and fellow tenants of the apartment building to an interactive funeral like no other. The vibrant requiem is scored by a dining room performance from Czech electro-trash band Midi Lidi. With the stage set, the play commences - eat, drink, dance and be merry in a celebration of life. Both film and ceremony are an experimental performance piece, playing with the notions of ritual and tradition and the beautiful absurdity of life and death. MILIARD SZCZĘŚLIWYCH LUDZI "One Billion Happy People" is the story of a forgotten visionary, a maverick, a wanderer. For 30 years Christopher Darewicz (51) has sauntered aimlessly between China and his native Poland, absorbing enough knowledge to hold high office in the government of either country. Yet the uniqueness of his character has lead him not to a career in politics, but rather to the more subdued and suitably bizarre profession of ornamental stone trader. Perhaps the only two constants in Darewicz's life are his thirst for deeper selfknowledge and the relentless need to develop new ideas. Too Polish to be Chinese and now, too Chinese to be Polish, Darewicz compares himself to Leonardo da Vinci, a misunderstood genius of his time, regarded by his contemporaries as a madman. By chance, in 2010, Darewicz makes a surprise discovery at a banquet in Shanghai - the hosts are playing disco polo, the hugely popular Polish version of Euro-disco from the 1990's. The guests don't seem to care from where the music originates - all they know is that they love the rhythm and simplistic melodies. Chinese homes, clubs, and supermarkets also seemed to have fallen under the disco polo spell. Immediately Darewicz has an idea - identify the leading light in the disco polo movement, teach him to sing in Chinese and conquer the Eastern Empire!
